The scholarships were sponsored by Bob’s Grill  (14th and the Boardwalk) in Ocean City and PBA Local #61.  Both students will graduate in June 2011 and they were awarded the scholarships for their work in the production of public safety messages addressing pedestrian safety and distracted driving.  The award is in honor of Casey Feldman who was tragically struck and killed by a distracted motorist in July 2009 while she was walking to work at Bob’s Grill in Ocean City.

Bob’s Grill in Ocean City, NJ, where Casey worked as a waitress this past summer, is partnering with the Policeman’s Benevolent Association Local #61 to offer a scholarship in Casey’s name. Students who graduate in June 2010 from Ocean City High School and plan to continue their studies at an accredited two or four-year college, university, technical, or trade school are eligible to apply for the Casey Feldman Communication and Media Studies Pedestrian Safety Scholarship. A minimum of $500 will be awarded to the recipient for the first annual safety scholarship.

The purpose of the award is to increase student safety awareness regarding traffic safety, including pedestrian safety and distracted driving. Applicants are required to submit a short video or a written public service announcement campaign that will be distributed in one of the Ocean City schools.
